Today, the Newfoundland and Labrador technology company ClearRisk™ was named Community Champion at the 2020 RBC Business Resilience Awards.  A North American leader in software solutions for risk management, business continuity planning and incident management, ClearRisk™ was recognized and celebrated for launching a pandemic risk management product offered free to the business community and for extraordinary support to local community sector organizations.  The virtual award show was hosted by the St. John’s Board of Trade.

The following efforts were highlighted as the basis for awarding the Community Champion Award.

  • Development and launch of the ClearRisk™ Pandemic Risk Management Solution to reduce the impact of Covid-19 across organizations and offered to customers and other Canadian entities with no cost. This commitment included delivery of software, training for employees and customer support at a level provided to all valued customers.

  • Leadership of ClearRisk™ CEO Craig Rowe on the creation of the techNL (formerly NATI) Covid Response Task Force to advocate and secure programming resources and relief for the province’s technology companies so they could survive the impact of the pandemic.

  • Extraordinary commitment to local community sector organizations with financial and other commitments prior to the arrival of government related pandemic supports.

Examples of these commitments included a notable contribution by ClearRisk™ to the Closed Door, Open Heart Project that asked tech companies to donate the equivalent of up to three months of business travel and expenses unused because of pandemic restrictions.  The contribution by ClearRisk™ helped local tech startups. ClearRisk™ supported the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador with an awareness campaign directed at its members to encourage the continuation of membership fees, which form the basis of operating funds, despite the closure of the YMCA in accordance with public health measures.  ClearRisk™ also proudly contributed to the Community Food Sharing Association, SPCA, The Gathering Place, YMCA NL, World YMCA, NL Eats, East Coast Trail Association, Canadian Mental Health Association NL, Lebanese Red Cross, Black Lives Matter Canada, and the YMCA NL Newcomer and Immigrant Settlement Programs.

Craig Rowe, CEO of ClearRisk™

“This community champion award is a reflection on the culture driven by ClearRisk’s values since we started the company in 2006.  Building a successful organization has a lot to do with how people work together and I am so proud of our team today.  In a time of great uncertainty and considerable stress our team stepped up everyday ensuring that we did everything we could to support our customers, our community and each other.  We were determined in March that we would do whatever we could to support our province’s tech sector so that it did not only survive the incredible challenges we saw ahead but to thrive.  And, we wanted to encourage others to give back and give more to the community sector organizations that do so much for building up our communities. We are resilient people and can accomplish so much when we work together. Thank you to RBC for highlighting the contribution of ClearRisk™. We are grateful for this recognition.  My sincere congratulations and appreciation to everyone who stepped up to make things better this year.”
